The bereavement committee is a volunteer group that expresses the parish’s sympathy by offering support at the time of a death and providing assistance with the grief associated with this experience.

The committee members have a spiritual gift of ministry to the grieving family in helping them with what seems like overwhelming decisions. They may be helpful in coordinating the funeral home regarding visitations and with the funeral director regarding the service. They will also assist in the contacts with the cemetery caretaker, the choir, the readers, the pall bearers, the reception organizers and the parish priest.

Ecclesiastes 3

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted.
