A PARISH PASTORAL MINISTRY
The Parish of St. Anthony’s provides a simple communion service to the Catholic residents of Windsor Court Retirement Residence. This service, for those who are unable to attend a regular Eucharistic service, is provided on Saturday evenings. All residents are welcomed as they gather in their wheel chairs and “walkers, and walking. We are always happy to welcome those of other faith traditions who may care to join us.
The gospel of the Sunday is read, and a short reflection on the reading is given. Questions are invited or sharings that further the understanding and the putting into everyday practice of the lessons is encouraged.
Bringing this part to a close are the ‘prayers of the faithful’ which include meaningful intentions and may include their own as well as remembering the sick and those no longer with us.
Together then the Lord’s prayer is prayed, followed by a short prayer in preparation for the receiving of Communion, which is then distributed. A short period of silence follows.
A final prayer of thanksgiving concludes the service as well as the exchanging of the “Peace of Christ”. Thank you’s are exchanged and as we express gratitude for the privilege of serving in this manner, all are wished a good evening and week.
On the second Monday of the month, Father John Jennings, Pastor of St. Theresa’s Parish, offers the Mass for all residents who may wish to attend the service.
